Start from TBD
duration 10 sessions
Class type Online Interactive

About the Training

The goal of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) is to involve all employees in a company through overlapping small groups, focusing on overall profitability through zero oriented approach on losses, breakdowns, accidents, defects and pollution. TPM aims at maximizing the productivity and efficiency of equipment in manufacturing and other industrial processes.

TPM was developed in Japan in the 1960s and 1970s, and has since been widely adopted by companies around the world. It started initially as a Maintenance driven initiative. Japan Institute of Plant Maintenance (JIPM), has been relentlessly involved in developing TPM to its present state where it is respected globally. TPM encompass all business processes, all type of Organizations, including Service industries. Hence the TPM Gurus also address it as Total Productive Management

The TPM approach is based on the following key principles:

  1. Zero breakdowns: eliminating unplanned downtime due to equipment failures, by taking a proactive approach to maintenance.
  2. Zero defects: eliminating defects in products, by improving the quality of equipment and processes.
  3. Zero accidents: eliminating accidents and injuries related to equipment, by improving safety measures and training.

The online training classes will commence soon for the batch 2024, and will run for 10 interactive sessions. The classes will be conducted daily from 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM IST, and will last for 2 hours per day. If necessary, the number of sessions may be extended. (Timing can be flexible with mutual understanding within the group of participents)

What will you learn?

Involves the frontline workers in the maintenance of their equipment to prevent small issues from turning into major problems. Operators are trained to conduct routine inspections and basic maintenance tasks, such as cleaning and lubrication.

It involves scheduled maintenance tasks to prevent equipment breakdowns and maintain equipment reliability. This includes tasks such as replacing worn-out parts and conducting equipment checks.

Tools and techniques for identifying and addressing equipment-related issues.

Provides employees with the necessary knowledge and skills to carry out their work effectively and safely. This includes training on TPM practices, safety procedures, and quality improvement techniques.

This pillar involves identifying potential equipment problems before they occur and taking corrective action to prevent failures from happening.

TPM emphasizes the importance of creating a safe and healthy workplace for employees while also minimizing the environmental impact of operations.

This involves applying TPM principles to administrative areas of the organization, such as finance, human resources, and information technology. This includes reducing paperwork, simplifying processes, and improving communication.

This is important to understand that these 8 Pillars are all inter related. These are not Silos, but processes which support each other across the organization. Hence, these are not to be interpreted in terms of a narrow, restricted stand-alone definition.

Benefits of TPM Facilitator Program

At the end of this session the participants will be able to understand the Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) fundamentals through the industry examples, work out sessions and the theoretical inputs provided by the experienced faculty.

The participants will be able to guide the implementation of TPM in a step by step approach thus creating an environment of total employee involvement and continuous improvement.

TPM is not just about maintaining equipment; it's also about building a culture of continuous improvement, where employees are empowered to identify problems and make improvements to processes and systems.
